If you can't commit immediately to uploading the items we can buy your license and hold a license for you until you can start uploading your items to eHive.

For any changes on your profile page including wording and profile images please request your Museums login and password from us!
Does your museum have something to say?
Is your museum extending its building; have you just appointed a new Director; or are you taking on a new collection? The NZMuseums website is the place for your museum's interesting news articles. Please send anything you think your museum colleagues and the general public would find interesting to natserv@tepapa.govt.nz . Remember, this isn't for exhibition or event listings, because that will be covered through the What's on section via NZLive.com.
Collaboration with NZLive
Your museum's profile on NZMuseums now has the added benefit of appearing as an attraction on NZLive.com for free! All profiles on the NZMuseums website will be added onto NZLive over the next couple of weeks, so anyone searching on NZLive can find your museum. Don't forget to list your events on NZLive.com for free!

NZMuseums project - in a nutshell
The NZMuseums website (www.nzmuseums.co.nz) was a basic directory featuring 358 museums. National Services Te Paerangi, in partnership with Vernon Systems Limited, has redeveloped the website to allow museums to place collection objects, images, exhibitions and events information online, similar to websites such as www.collectionsaustralia.net and www.pictureaustralia.org.
This redevelopment will be most useful for small to medium-sized museums, which may be unable to afford to do this themselves. It has been designed with their needs in mind, but still allows larger institutions to contribute content.
With ongoing training and support from National Services Te Paerangi, your museum will be able to add and manage your information through private, secure access to the website. You will contribute your information through:
- use of simple online forms accessed via the Internet, or
- a simple-to-use upload process that will be developed for museums that already have a collection management system.
What's in it for your museum?
Want to know what's in it for your museum to join NZMuseums? Download our FAQ sheet which includes the following information:
- Who is the end-user of this site - the target market?
- How is the change occuring?
- How much will this cost?
Here's how museums can start to catalogue their collections online:
- Follow the 7-step plan to put in place a digitising process.
- Read the instructions on how to use the eHive Import Spreadsheet.
- Download the Excel Spreadsheet and start cataloguing.
Once completed, please save your spreadsheet and images on to a CD and send them to:
