The history team answers enquiries on a regular basis from the public, special interest groups, and a wide range of organisations and museums both nationally and internationally. Enquiries include requests for information about particular historical objects or events, including objects in Te Papa’s collection. The team also receives enquiries about items held by individuals and in private collections in the community.
If you have a question, send us your enquiry using the general enquiry form. It would be helpful if you include as much information as possible including the known history of the object and your area of interest. You can also click here for further information on what to do.
Information about objects in the collection is stored on Te Kahui - Te Papa’s database. Requests for general information from Te Kahui should be made via mail@tepapa.govt.nz.
Researchers are welcome to visit Te Papa and use the collection and its associated resources. Visits should be arranged in advance, ph: (04) 381 7000.
